Biography
Portland-based NSW sculptor Harrie Fasher is the recipient of the Major Award at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2018 and recipient of the prestigious Helen Lempriere Scholarship for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2017. Harrie exhibited at Sculpture in the Gardens in Mudgee, 2021 and won Sculpture at Sawmillers in 2022. Harrie established the Portland Foundry in 2021, a regional community asset with the ability to cast bronze sculptures using the Italian renaissance lost wax method.
Statement
In referencing Fasher’s work for her solo exhibition at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery in 2015, Dr Michael Hill (National Art School, Sydney) wrote: “Making things with your hands expresses an intelligence that is different and more fine-grained than conceptual thinking. One has to feel- literally, feel- something into being via practical and spirited dialogue with the material.”

Statement
This sculpture is part of a series which explores pure geometric abstraction where elements balance, tumble and float creating positive and negative compositions of space, light and shade.
