‘Narbong-galang’, Sculpture Forest

Biography:  Born and raised in Swan Hill, now lives and works on Waradgerie (Wiradjuri) Country, New South Wales, Lorraine-Connelly draws her practice influenced by her western and Indigenous heritage.

In 2020, Connelly-Northey was one of the artists commissioned by the Art Gallery to create work for the Sydney Modern Project.

Interrogating European settlement and industrialisation, Connelly-Northey reflects this with her use of found materials, such as wire and corrugated iron and incorporates Indigenous weaving techniques and traditional objects. Through her work, she explores the traditional, progressive, resilient, and innovative nature of Country and heritage. In 2020 Connelly-Northey was one of the artists commissioned by the Art Gallery to create work for the Sydney Modern Project.


Stage one of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail was jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
