Artist Statement: This sculpture represents a small universe in the wind.

Biography: Kozo Nishino graduated from Kyoto City University of Art in 1979. He has had major solo exhibitions held at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art and Kyoto Museum of Art. Nishino’s significant international commissions include Power Station of Art Shanghai, World Trade Centre New York and National Arboretum Canberra and his awards include Nakahara Teijiro Prize 2021. He has exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2008, 2016 and 2023 and Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2016 and 2023.


Stage one of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail was jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
