Artist Statement: My work has from the beginning of my career 45 years ago been figurative. The human condition in all it’s complexity has been a constant source of inspiration. The sculpture ‘Contemplation’ shows a frozen moment of contemplation, as if just before something happens or after it has happened. There is an in-between moment of neutrality. The figure is androgynous but still based on my son which brings it closer to me as a family. My work conveys the thought that we are all, as human beings, part of nature. Nature speaks to us on a profound level and the silent and beautiful Ash Walk in the forest has immense character. The figure becomes part of a silent conversation with it´s surroundings and the atmosphere in the forest, echoing the colour, texture and mood
Biography: Icelandic sculptor with an international career spanning 40 years. Exhibited extensively in Europe, Japan, USA and Australia. Represented in private and public collections worldwide. Major solo exhibitions including Wayfinders, NNM, Seattle, USA 2023. Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus 2009. Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 7 times since 1999. Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 5 times since 2005.
