‘Bird House’, THE APPLE THIEF

Location: The Apple Thief Cider House, 4066 Batlow Road, Batlow NSW

Artist Statement: ‘Bird House’ is a series of luxury designed sculptural dwellings, nestled among the natural foliage. Each piece is custom built and sustainable, designed to support year-round nesting. Individually thrown and hand built in ceramic, the forms offer practical comfort, cool in summer, warm in winter, while blending function and beauty.

Biography: BA (Education) COFA 2009. BFA (Sculpture) NAS 2000. Currently studying Diploma of Ceramics at Gymea TAFE. Whittingham is a practicing artist and ceramicist whose work spans sculpture, mixed media, and clay. She has exhibited widely across New South Wales, presenting her ceramics and sculptural works in galleries, group shows, and auction settings. Whittingham has participated in numerous group exhibitions since 1993 and has exhibited in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi five times since 2000.
