We are pleased to invite you to enter the Winter Photography Competition for the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail.
To enter all you need to do is take a photo of one or more of the sculptures in the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail before the end of winter this year and to upload the photo to Instagram as detailed in the Terms & Conditions below.
The winner will receive two nights complimentary accommodation in Bondi during this year’s Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi held from 18 October – 4 November, 2024 and be invited to join our team of exhibition photographers for a day (at a rate of $500 a day) should they wish to take up this opportunity.

Information on how to enter form part of the terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Anyone may enter the competition except employees and their immediate families of the Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated.
The competition commences at 9.00am (AEST) on Thursday 6 June 2024 and closes at 11.59pm (AEST) on August 31 2024.
The prize for the photographer of the photo judged the best is to be engaged as a photographer for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi to be held on the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk in Sydney, Australia from 18 October – 4 November 2024 (‘the 2024 Bondi Exhibition’) with the following benefits: (i) Two night’s hotel accommodation in Bondi during the period of 18 October – 4 November 2024. The hotel will be booked at the discretion of Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated. Travel expenses are NOT included in the prize, winners are to make their own way to Sydney and cover all associated incidental costs; (ii) The payment of $500 to photograph the sculptures in the 2024 Bondi Exhibition (‘the Photographer’s Fee’). With the payment of the Photographer’s Fee to be made within one month of the photographer submitting at least 20 original photos of sculptures in the 2024 Bondi Exhibition which Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated may use for the purposes detailed in the Photographer contract to be sent to the winner of the competition, including but not limited to publication on social and digital media and in catalogues and books published by Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated with the photographer always credited when photographs are used. The winner of the competition may choose not to enter into the contract to Photograph the 2024 Bondi Exhibition in which case they will forfeit the prize. The winning photographer is prohibited to sell or use images taking at the 2024 Bondi Exhibition for commercial use as the artists retain copyright in sculptures temporarily installed in a public space.
How to enter:
Step 1: Take a photo of a sculpture in the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail.
Step 2: Upload your photo to Instagram by 11.59pm (AEST) on August 31 2024 with the tags @snowyvalleyssculpturetrail and #snowyvalleyssculpturetrail (Instagram privacy settings must be set to ‘public’ for us to retrieve your photo) To ensure we don’t miss your entry, please direct message your post to us as well.
Step 3: Follow both of our Instagram accounts @snowyvalleyssculpturetrail and @sculpturebythesea
Only entries submitted via the Instagram application and which are appropriately hashtagged #snowyvalleyssculpturetrail will be accepted. Photographs submitted must be original photographs.
Multiple entries are permitted.
Judging will take place by Monday 9 September 2024 (AEST)
The competition is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in the selection of the winner. We are looking for the most inspiring moment from Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail. The promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.
11.Submissions will be judged by David Handley, the Founding CEO & Artistic Director of Sculpture by the Sea and the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail, based solely on the artistic quality of the submitted photo. Entries that are deemed to not belong to or be taken by the user, or which use digital technology to alter the image will not be eligible.
The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes cannot be transferred. Non-cash prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in its opinion, is not original or is offensive or defamatory in any way.
Entries must be received by 11.59pm (AEST) on August 31 2024. The time of entry will in each case be the time the photo is uploaded to Instagram. Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries or for any other reason.
All costs associated with entering this competition are to be met by the entrant.
All images published on Instagram with #snowyvalleyssculpturetrail may be moderated and displayed on the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail section of the Sculpture by the Sea website and associated social media channels including Instagram and Facebook. These images and associated usernames will be public to all.
You agree your images can be broadcast via digital feeds or printed for physical events for the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail and Sculpture by the Sea for no fee.
Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated may:
(i) use your personal details for the purpose of conducting the competition, including the use of your Instagram name in promotional formats;
(ii) contact you via Instagram if you are a winner of the competition;
(iii) request winners to provide proof of identity and proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated;
(iv) refuse to allow a winner to take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if in their opinion, that a winner is not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to safely participate in the prize.
Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated:
(i) shall endeavour to contact the winner via their Instagram account by 16 September. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted by this date, an alternate winner will be selected and the original winner will forfeit any prize;
(ii) shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law;
(iii) is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the entrant or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition;
(iv) reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition for any reason including but not limited to if this competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to technical failures or any causes beyond the control of Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated.
