‘Composition 17’, BATLOW

Location: On Pioneer Street, in front of the CWA in Toc H. Park, adjacent to Batlow Hospital, Batlow.

Artist Statement: Part of a tree, a branch the essence of what a tree is, cut and shaped by hand, gently manipulated, exaggerated and repurposed into something new. you can still see they hold their natural shape in this new composition, this new form. Bound together as they are by the use of a simple connection reflecting the way a community is held together. A sense of belonging, an awareness of place and the simple act of being there for your neighbour. In this way we make the most of human connection and live up to the idea that we are better together.

Biography: Represented in collections in Australia and USA. Major public commissions include the Sydney Memorial to the Victims of the Bali Bombings 2002 and the Surf Life Saving Australia Memorial 2003. As at 2017, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 7 times since 2000. Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2006, 2010. Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus 2009 and 2013.
