You have the horizon across the Tasman Sea, the Sydney sandstone cliffs, the vast sky and the pounding surf on the rocks. It is operatic in setting. Such a context challenges the sculptor with scale and light forcing relevance and reverence for the natural features of the location.
Above all Sculpture by the Sea gives the artist freedom; freedom to express what they want, what is important to them and to share this with hundreds and thousands of people. It reiterates why art enriches the human experience.”
