“I exhibited in Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe for the first time in 2005. At that time, I was losing confidence as an artist, and so it was very moving for me when I saw people enjoying the sculptures during the exhibition. I felt that the mental distance between the audience and sculptures was very small. I felt that the sculptures moved people’s minds as they were intended to, as works of art. So I regained my confidence. It has been 14 years since then. Meanwhile, I got acquainted with the many great artists, kind Sculpture by the Sea staff and wonderful people supporting Sculpture by the Sea. They are my treasure. Ten exhibitions at Cottesloe; I feel very deeply touched.”
