“Sculptors in Australia were like the poets, right down the bottom in terms of recognition. In my opinion poets should be the most recognised artists in the country. When Sculpture by the Sea began sculptors went up a notch above the poets. After 15 years we have a real profile because of Sculpture by the Sea but its still really hard work being a sculptor.”
