“The challenge of Sculpture by the Sea is to make a piece that you feel can survive the indifference of an outdoor setting. It must stand up the majesty of the Bondi coastline in the proximity of 99 other attempts and be viewed by a crowd wearing shorts and sunglasses. To still feel at the end of three weeks that you are happy with your sculpture, even back at the studio after the show, is a reason why I continue to apply to be in the exhibition.”
