“I have been re-imagining templates of sign language to make poetic word works since 1979. Moving to Bondi Beach in 1980 fresh from growing up in Adelaide, I changed a Crossing sign (with its man legs striding) to SING, by placing yellow tape over the CROSS. In 1998 in Sculpture by the Sea’s second year, my work was a big red stop sign saying GO. Since then I have enjoyed the wold blue yonders of the Bondi environment through being a part of wonderful Sculpture by the Sea, placing tamed signwork-inventions into the mix. My tenth time is the biggest thrill. I hope for more.”
