Fiona Gavino

Watch the first edition of the Artist Interview series where we speak with Western Australian artist Fiona Gavino about her sculptural work ‘The Meditation, Inhale Exhale’.  Gavino is the Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024 recipient of The Andrea Stretton Memorial Invitation to showcase her work at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2024.


Johannes Pannekoek

Western Australia artist Johannes Pannekoek was announced as the recipient of the $30,000 Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill Sculpture Award for his sculpture ‘Lifeblood’. Enjoy this interview with him discussing his artwork at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe exhibited until 18 March 2024.


Sean Henry

Watch the latest of our Artist Interview Series where we speak with Sean Henry who is exhibiting his work ‘Seated Man’ at the 20th anniversary Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024. Henry’s figures are modelled in clay, cast in bronze and then hand painted by the artist using a range of techniques. Each sculpture is like a three-dimensional painting, and the addition of colour makes it possible for him to infuse the works with personality and character. Alessandra Rossi

Alessandra Rossi is a multimedia artist exploring narrative and abstractions through her innate understanding of space and time. In this interview, she talks about her artwork, on exhibit at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024 and how her intent was to turn a still-life painting into a sculpture. Sharyn Egan

Sharyn Egan is a painter, weaver and sculptor. Much of her artwork is a commentary on her life as a Nyoongar woman and the associated trauma, emotions and deep sense of loss and displacement experienced by Aboriginal people. Jimmy Rix

Jimmy Rix discusses his artwork ‘A Bridge Too Far’ exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024. His artistic process starts with multiple sketches, or ‘doodles’ and a quieting of his conscious mind. Anton Forde

New Zealand artist Anton Forde discussed his work ‘Papare / Protection’ exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2024. The series of carved sculptures are described as time-travelling sentinels, all-seeing, all-knowing, individually and collectively they stand as guardians and protectors.
