This program will specifically look to address the negative effects of COVID on aged care residents.
Evidence demonstrates that seniors in residential aged care facilities have experienced increased levels of isolation, anxiety and fear during the pandemic due to limitations of access to families and community.
In partnership with Lotterywest, DADAA and aged care providers, a structured program of assisted community access will be delivered for aged care residents including transport to the exhibition and a guided tour tailored to participants abilities. Later in the year, a sculpture workshop will be provided to the participants at their aged care providers’ residence.
This will provide opportunities for mental and physical activity, reduce feelings of isolation and enable involvement with the wider community.
