The team at Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill congratulate Johannes Pannekoek as the recipient of The Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill Sculpture Award of $30,000 for ‘Lifeblood’ at the 20th annual Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe.

The Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill Sculpture Award recipient was selected by the exhibition’s Award Judges:

  • Paola Anselmi Artist
  • Ron Bradfield Jnr Bard, Jawi Storyteller and Artist
  • Geoffrey Edwards Curator, Pt Leo Estate Sculpture Park, former Senior Curator; Sculpture & Glass, National Gallery of Victoria

The Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill Sculpture Award of $30,000 is one of the most generous awards for the Visual Arts in Australia. It is chosen by the exhibition’s Award Judges and announced at the opening of the exhibition. The previous recipients of the Hancock Prospecting and Roy Hill Sculpture Award at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe are James Rogers (NSW) and Hiroyuki Kita (Japan).

THE MAJOR SCULPTURE AWARD 2014-2018

Four of the recent Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe exhibitions offered a major acquisitive award thanks to Rio Tinto and Roy Hill & Hancock Prospecting, with three of the sculptures from 2016-2018 gifted by Rio Tinto to the City of Busselton for permanent public placement.
