With Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi approaching, here’s how your students can engage with Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi this year and to introduce you to Annie Kilbane, who has recently joined us as Manager of the School Education Program and Access & Inclusion Program. Since 2002, Sculpture by the Sea has run a School Education Program offering heavily subsidised artist-led sculpture making workshops and tours during the exhibition. Each year, around 2,000 primary and secondary school students from Sydney, regional NSW and the ACT have taken part.
Unfortunately, due to limited resources and the lack of funding from Creative Australia, we have made the difficult decision not to run the artist-led School Education Program at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi this year. While we know this will be disappointing news, we warmly encourage schools to visit the exhibition on self-guided tours and anticipate some 8,000 – 10,000 students will visit on excursions.

If you register your self-guided visit on our website in advance, Annie will be happy to assist with planning and will arrange a free exhibition catalogue for you to collect on-site. We will also continue to run our free Access & Inclusion Program, offering tactile tours tailored to the individual needs of people with disability. Please contact Annie directly if any of your students would like to take part in this program.
