Maaretta Jaukkuri, Curator of Artscape Nordland and Peter Boardman, Head Engineer, Structure Design for Gibbs Farm join our 2017 Sydney Sculpture Conference line-up and will each present a Keynote session on their fascinating work spanning decades.

Maaretta Jaukkuri – Curator, Artscape Nordland
Since 1989, Maaretta Jaukkuri has been the curator of the international sculpture programme ‘Artscape Nordland’, a site specific project in remote regions of northernmost Norway spanning 30 years.

Maaretta’s conference session will consider the idea of site, to include its challenges and opportunities, and how the project’s basic concept to create something for people to enjoy in the remote regions where there are no museums or art galleries was interpreted and realised. Maaretta will also discuss how the site and the public impacted and influenced each other.

Peter Boardman – Head Engineer, Structure Design for Gibbs Farm

Peter Boardman has managed the creation and installation of over 20 sculptures at Gibbs Farm, a sculpture park located north-west of Auckland, New Zealand. Since 1996, owner Alan Gibbs and his team have commissioned international artists to create work specifically for The Farm, often on such a large scale they have never produced before.

Peter’s conference session will discuss the many sculptures Peter has worked on as he shares insights into his important role in engineering and installing some of the world’s most monumental sculptures to include Anish Kapoor, Richard Serra and Andy Goldsworthy.

Early Bird Conference tickets are on sale now (available until midnight 8 August)
