Sculptors to Schools Greater Sydney

Sculpture by the Sea offers the opportunity for schools and students to participate in Artist-led Sculpture Making Workshops. Run by our educators and artists who have previously exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea, the programs support key learning areas and outcomes across stages 2-6 of the NSW curriculum and syllabus.

Programs Available

Artist-led Sculpture Making Workshops – On school premises

Artists who have exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea and educators come to classrooms and actively explore the materials, themes, skills, ideas, processes and creative practice in an informative and stimulating workshop. Workshop run times are 60-90 minutes, with a maximum of 30 students per workshop.

Artist-led Sculpture Making Workshops – Online

Online interactive presentation of the material contained in the Sculpture Making workshop.

3 Week Artist in Residence Program

Artists who have exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea and educators come to classrooms and conduct 3 separate workshops over 3 weeks. This expanded program goes into greater detail of the artist’s practice and processes. Structured as three 2 hour workshops, with a maximum of 30 students per workshop (the same students are required as each workshop builds on the content of the prior workshops attended).

6 Week Artist in Residence Program

Artists who have exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea and educators come to classrooms and conduct 6 separate workshops over 6 weeks. This expanded program goes into greater detail of the artist’s practice and processes, includes the production of planning sketches, maquettes, larger-scale sculpture, and also an in-school exhibition of the material produced during the residency. Structured as six 2-hour workshops, with a maximum of 30 students per workshop (the same students are required as each workshop builds on the content of the prior workshops attended).

Professional Development Workshops

Workshops for educators, in collaboration with artists and teachers. A unique opportunity to meet Sculpture by the Sea artists to develop well-structured learning experiences about contemporary art and sculpture. This short course may be used as professional development in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Workshops are held once per term and run for 3 hours.
