The Helen Lempriere Scholarships are awarded to Australian sculptors in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi. The scholarships are made possible by the Helen Lempriere Bequest created through the will of the late Keith Wood, husband of the late Australian artist Helen Lempriere and managed by Perpetual.
The Helen Lempriere Scholarships are designed to advance individual artists’ careers by enabling them to travel, study and undertake opportunities to further their artistic development. The scholarships are awarded to emerging, mid career and senior Australian sculptors chosen by the exhibition’s curatorial panel.
As part of this year’s 20th anniversary celebrations, Perpetual, the managers of the Helen Lempriere Bequest, have made possible a fourth $30,000 Helen Lempriere Scholarship for Australian artists. The 2016 recipients are:
Orest Keywan (NSW), And the ship sails on (with apologies to f.f.)
Dale Miles (NSW), Parallel thinking space
Samantha Small (ACT), Stalemate Mk II
