Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2026 – NOW OPEN

Posted: March 7, 2026 / News

After an extraordinary effort by the exhibiting artists and the teams of people that support each of them, 70 sculptures are now installed at one of Western Australia’s most beautiful locations, Cottesloe Beach.

As the sun reflected off the waves this morning, a Welcome to Country was performed at the  Auslan interpreted opening of the 21st anniversary exhibition of  Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe  where we welcomed and congratulated the exhibiting artists from eight countries around the world, including Alessandra Rossi from WA and Haruyuki Uchida from Japan who join the Decade Club, five artists from India exhibiting as part of an India Showcase and the TWA Invited Artists, Dr Subodh Kerkar from India and Noongar woman, Karla Hart. This year Ron Gomboc Cit. WA from WA and Keizo Ushio from Japan have shown their work in all 21 exhibitions at Cottesloe.

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe has returned to Perth thanks to the support of The Hon. Anthony Albanese, MP, Prime Minister of Australia and Senator the Hon. Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism who secured significant annual funding of $750,000 through Austrade for the 2026 and 2027 exhibitions. Importantly, this funding includes a minimum of $4,500 of income to each Australian artist toward their costs.

The WA government continues its support for Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe through Tourism WA and Lotterywest for different aspects of the exhibition including beach wheelchair matting to be installed south of Indiana’s on Cottesloe Beach from Wednesday 11 to Thursday 19 March.

Thank you to Alcoa for 21 years of continuous support for the artists and the highly subsidised School Education Program. Thanks to our Decade Club sponsors EY, JCDecaux and Thompson Estate – who this year celebrate 22 years of producing award winning wines in Margaret River – and to all of our other sponsors and donors, including Dinosaur Designs and Art Almanac for 21 years of respectively providing the artist award trophies and advertising.

We thank our dedicated team at Sculpture by the Sea and the exhibition’s many volunteers, some who have volunteered for all 21 exhibitions.

Our not for profit organisation is proud to stage Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe as a major free to the public event for the people of Perth and its visitors from across the world.

In this E-News edition we help you plan your visit, offer a link to our Website Gallery and Interactive Guide for those who would like to visit virtually, announce some of the artist awards and subsidies, and let you know what’s on.

We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s exhibition!
