Established in 2006, The Clitheroe Foundation Emerging Sculptor Mentorship Program awards $15,000 each to two selected artists every Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi exhibition. The mentor program aims to encourage professional and meaningful fellowships between emerging sculptors and established practitioners facilitating a skills exchange between the emerging artists and their mentors whilst providing a forum for the professional and technical development of the emerging sculptors.

We are pleased to announce the artists selected for the 2023 Clitheroe Emerging Sculptor Mentorship Program are Sam Hopkins (WA) and Ben Tooth (NSW).

Dave Horton (NSW) will be mentoring Sam as he seeks to further his understanding of conceptual depth, composition, form, and sculptural dialogues, and enrich his artistic journey in visual arts through the mentorship program.

Ben has chosen two experienced sculptors to mentor him in this program, Sasha Reid (NZ) and Johannes Pannekoek (WA).  He looks forward to what will inevitably be a development of his practice as a result of these inspirational professional relationships.

Sam Hopkins, Ben Tooth, Dave Horton, and Johannes Pannekoek are all exhibiting artists at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2023.
