Artist Statement

In Spring, new buds shooting from old vines.
In Summer, sunlight flooding through fresh green leaves.
In Autumn, the fullness of ripened fruit.
And, in Winter, the discarded prunings rest on the earth, soon to gift their nutrients to future crops.

Biography

Akira Kamada studied photography and painting in Japan before migrating to Australia. With a background in Zen garden design and landscaping, he studied ceramics and sculpture in Sydney. H. Clitheroe Foundation Mentorship Recipient 2008. Exhibiting artist at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi six times since 2006 and Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe four times since 2011.
