Artist Awards

We are pleased to provide the following awards and subsidies for some of the artists in the exhibition.  It is our aim to increase the support for each artist to cover their freight and to provide a minimum amount to each artist towards their costs of exhibiting.

With thanks to Rio Tinto for funding the major acquisitive award from 2016 -2018 and gifting the sculptures to the City of Busselton for permanent public placement. In 2014 the major acquisitive award was funded by Roy Hill and Hancock Prospecting.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN SCULPTOR SCHOLARSHIP

In 2018 the Western Australian Sculptor Scholarship of $10,000, donated by Gavin Bunning & Julienne Penny since 2013, was awarded to Sally Stoneman from WA for Seed. The scholarship for travel, study and the advancement of the artist’s career includes an invitation to exhibit in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi.

All Western Australian artists with works appearing in Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe are eligible.

THE EY PEOPLES’ CHOICE PRIZE

The 2018 EY People’s Choice Prize of $5,000, as voted by visitors of the exhibition, was awarded to B. Jane Cowie for ‘Swirling Surround’ .

THE RIO TINTO SCULPTURE INSIDE AWARD

The Sculpture Inside Award of $5,000 can be received by any artist exhibiting in Sculpture Inside. The 2018 Sculpture Inside Award was awarded to Geoff Overheu from WA for his work Swarm (2017).

KID’S CHOICE PRIZE

The 2018 Kid’s Choice Prize of $2,000, donated by Rebel Penfold Russell OAM, Emys & Jasper, as voted by the children visiting the exhibition, was awarded to Denise Pepper for ‘Waiting in the Wings’.
