In June 2008, Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus - Denmark was launched in association with the City of Aarhus and ARoS, under the patronage of The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark, and with the advice and guidance of Sculpture by the Sea's Founding Director David Handley and Head Curator Axel Arnott.

Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus - Denmark was inspired by Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, and The Crown Prince and Crown Princess' familiarity with, and enthusiasm for, our Bondi Exhibition, now entering its 13th year.

Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus - Denmark is financially and legally independent of Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated and is being produced at no cost to the Australian not for profit organisation.

There was 26 Australian sculptors that exhibited in the inaugural Aarhus exhibition and that there will be an increase in Danish sculptors participating in future Bondi and Cottesloe exhibitions.

Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated welcomes the launch of Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus - Denmark as an exciting initiative, a wonderful opportunity for Australian sculptors and a fine example of the way in which sculpture's universal language transcends cultural boundaries.
